...good match with byston gear?

I'm using Vandersteen Model 3s with my Bryston gear. Previously, I had a pair of Energy C8s and the sound was a little too harsh for my ears. It's not that the Brystons are particularly bright. I just find that many mid-priced speakers are a designed to excite potential buyers by emphasizing the frequency extremes. After you've lived with them you recognize the flaws.

I think you'd have to narrow down your choices of Paradigm and B&W speakers to specific models that sound good with Bryston. For instance, the Paradigm Studio series would likely sound good because they've dealt with some of the upper frequency brightness found in the Monitor and lower series. I haven't tried B&W in my system, but suspect that things would get a little fatigueing. Most of the reading I've done lately suggests that the priceier B&Ws major on crisp highs and detailed presentation. This might be too much of good thing with Bryson gear, but it depends what you're looking for.

If you're going to go with the Bryston/Paradigm or B&W combo, then you might want to try the tube pre-amp route.
