Tracer, I would not call them romantic or flat sounding. However, keeping in mind that generation 1 was marketed as an "active reference monitor" they should measure flat, I have never seen meansurements though.
With that said, I get emotionally involved when listening to music. I listenend to Lionel Ritchie "Running through the night" on a original vinyl pressing last night and was ready to head out and party afterwards!
The one thing that I love about these is that you can listen to music loud and they dont change their character at all. I am not a bass freak or head banger by any means but it is nice to have their dynamic capabilities on hand, especially when combined with an extreme power to resolve.
Since acquring these, I have stopped exclusively listening to small jazz works on 180gram + pressings and have gotten much more into the real music that I love. I do still love the jazz works but listening to music used to be just as much about the system as the music, since the Quads- it is all about the music.
