I think active speakers make enormous sense with multi-channel applications. Active speakers would simplify set-up for consumers (who don't like complicated set-up procedures - like programming a VCR - or a lot of space cluttering boxes).I am glad to see that at least one speaker company, ATC of the UK, has designed a totally active multi-channel speaker system designed for use with their multi-channel pre-amps and a multi-channel source (SACD, DVD).
