You know what, I can enjoy music on very different systems. I have an extremely expensive home stereo system and feel that it more fully communicates the intent of the performers. However, I enjoy listening to music on my vastly inferior car stereo, and even like hearing music on the sound system in the gym where I work out. I guess it all has to do with expectations. I expect the gym sound system to sound crappy and am not concerned about the quality of sound I hear from it. However, if I heard that sound quality coming from my home system, I would be appalled. I probably also listen to better recordings on my home system than I would on a cheap system due to better sound quality of the recordings being enhanced on a good sound system.
