are hardly terms I would apply to most "alternative music" which has plagued us, seeping up from the septic tank of formulaic, corporate-controlled, hackneyed, jaded, depressing, no-talent music which was created by Beethoven with Wellington's Victory and continued right through all of the groups in the 1960s which played the same four chords for twenty years straight. Now we have another generation of untrained, self-agrandizing malcontents thinking that their audible catharsis makes for good art. Wrong. There is a big difference between art and MOST alternative "music."Now, as always, there are some great bands out there, with wonderful musicians who ARE doing something of real value in that genre. But sweeping generalizations and praise concerning a overwhelmingly poor type of music bother me.
