Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Spoiled Audiophile

I've been paying attention to certain labels now with classical music and also am becoming much more aware of things in pop and some limited jazz that I listen to. All the classical stuff I like is mainly symphonic works from the Romantic period. But most of the "good stuff" (for me) is on labels like Deutche Grammaphone. (sp?) I happen to have a Beethoven CD on the Delos label and it's superb. I have a small collection but that's the only audiophile type label I have except for a couple of nice remasters.

Am I the only one who's frustrated with this? I almost wish I didn't have the Delos recording. I looked at the Web sites for Telarc, Chandos, Chesky, Hyperion and Harmoni Mundi today and found a total of 3 CDs I would want after looking through their WHOLE catalog. There are more labels in the list people kindly gave me I haven't gone through yet but this is kind of disheartening.

I've always been into the "sound" of music (oh that sounds bad) as much as the music itself. Even though my system is mid-fi, my B&Ws are extremely revealing and that's how I like it, but I've gotten spoiled hearing a few good recordings and now only want to buy things that are that quality. I spose I just need to take a pill and know it's not a perfect world.
