didn't read the entire thread, so others may have already suggested this - get a decent turntable, and record cleaning machine, and hang out at the thrift shops. $0.25 - $1 per LP. You will quickly figure out what a trashed LP looks like, and which labels (usually) had better sonics.If you don't have multiple versions of most major works in just a couple of years, I would be surprised. Lots of classical out there, and few takers. Oh, and while you're at it, you could wallpaper your entire home with Herb Alpert "Peaches and Cream" covers.
