herbie was nearly a prodigy and miles recognized it early on. not a damn thing wrong with brecker, and hargrove is exemplary. this album has lots of promise.
herbies best work isnt his funk, i think thats the output youre thinking of. try the album 'emyrean isles' or 'maiden voyage'.
as for his funk-the video 'rockit' was a masterpiece! entirely enertaining.
