No need to get defensive or smarmy, John. Did that little quote rub you the wrong way? Let me assure you that I didn't intend it for any particular individual here; I simply knew that there has been a running debate over "what's her name's" artistic merits, and in good faith I posted what I thought to be a valid written opinion, germane to the controversy, and a plausible theory explaining the vast discrepancy between those of us who appreciate her music, and those who don't. I think the theory has a lot of merit - and if you read through the quote again, perhaps you'd see that Mr. Feather, along with the writer of the article, Mr. Lees, think exactly along the lines that you do. They were in fact condemning those who effect hipness for the sake of hipness, and they certainly discount that "hipness" as a qualification for music appreciation or criticism. That was the point, don't you think? The point that you made in such a grandiloquent and verbose style of condescending satire, was concisely made with that one "hipper-than thou" phrase, I thought.Oh, and I apologize for my faux-pas. Sorry to have upset you ar any of the other serious music lovers here with my untimely posting. See... I have so much to learn from you and others like you here. In fact, I think your kid should reconsider your "hipness".
