Your memory serves you well. Hammond Castle is open to the public, and even has a Web site (the URL escapes me) about hours, history, etc. Wonderful place, built on a bluff overlooking Gloucester Harbor -- I believe he chose the site because it was the scene of a famous shipwreck, perhaps the Hesperus?
