GEO, we're in a minority to begin with; jazz accounts for something like 1% of all music sales. So we can't be too sensitive when there's a lack of interest in artists who we consider worthy of more attention. The posters here are probably more astute and diverse than the general public at least. Even within the cozy confines of the jazz section of the music stores and online CD merchants, there are just too many artists for the average guy to get involved with. We all have to pick our favorites. I've heard the two that you mention, but they've just never inspired me to go out and get all their CDs. BTW, have you seen the latest issue of Downbeat? In their annual poll, for each category, they have a list of TDWR - Talents Deserving of Greater Recognition - which is all you're saying here. I've felt the same bewilderment here at times. Hell, nobody seems to care about any of the artists who I like. Want me to list some who I harp on, but don't seem to get much reaction about? That's OK though, what's important is our own appreciation.Mike M
