Thank god music transcends our personal dispositions. I don't understand our need to denigrate an artist in order to validate our opinions - isn't it enough to have found and enjoy an artist? Each talent contributes to the art, be it emotion, sophistication, musicianship, composition etc. Our preferences and discernments are more about us than the art form we believe we are discussing. The artists remain artists - despite our opinions - and we are blessed to be allowed to enjoy their creations.
As for the lack of discussion about a particular artist - I would not conclude that this implies a lack of knowledge by the community. All one can say is that the topic never came up.S
