The first 2 albums from The Police i don't think were meant to be decent sounding. Both have very rough edges which is what it should be. Police in their early days were rough and raw and superb. Stings albums are very well produced but i find souless.
The Police is best heard on a tatty old slab of vinyl turned up loud with some good friends and plenty of beer. Better still, pretend you are 15, your mum is out and the garage is free.
