Oh my God, I had no idea. I actually got to meet him when i was in high-school. he did a lot of clinics for colleges, which is where he was when I met him. He had a lot of sage advice about more than jazz. Although Bill Goodwin (a real zen master of jazz drumming) gave me the best advice I never followed. "Well, i dont know, I dont wanna tell you what to do, but if you wanna play drums that is as practical any anything else you can do."As for your request, Gene Krupa, smooth like butta. A real prodigy, and there aint many real ones out there dead or alive.
