In the book, "Giraffes, Black Dragons, and Other Pianos: A Technological History. . . ", there are three interesting quotes as follows:
To the firm of Bösendorfer in Vienna, Liszt wrote, "The perfection of your grand piano surpasses my most idealistic expectations!"
To Steinway, he wrote, "Your grand piano is a glorious masterpiece in power, sonority, singing quality, and perfect harmonic effects!"
To Chickering, he exclaimed, "It is imperial! I never thought a piano could possess such qualities!"
