I hope this won't be considered name dropping, but in the early 80's, I participated in a master class conducted by Moravec, and a few years after that, I had dinner on two successive nights with Moravec and his wife. One of the questions he was interested in (at the dinner, not the master class) was: who among the younger generation of pianists (at that time) was a real musician - not merely an impressive technician. My answer was: Radu Lupu. Interestingly enough, the subject of Clara Haskil also came up in the conversation - her Philips recording of the Chopin Second Concerto with Markevitch and the Lamoureux Orchestra, although Moravec seemed more interested in the fact that the Cortot re-orchestration was used on that recording. (I made him a cassette copy of my CD of that performance.)
