I guess that it depends upon whether one considers oneself primarily a music lover or an audiophile (while they're not mutually exclusive, of course, there are people who clearly gravitate toward the ends of the spectrum). I consider myself the former, and the number of CD's I have is about the same as the number of $$$ spent on equipment.
I cannot imagine having only 300 CD's, regardless of system value.
