Otherwise you are saying "every thing's the same." Maybe we should "deconstruct" that. Frankly if opera was not the "highest art form"* then rock/pop/broadway would not always be trying to imitate it - and as a consequence ruin their own chance at making a unique contribution to the category of important extended (narrative) emotional experience.
We should also admit that most opera is crap, and we are enjoying maybe 10% of the operas written in the last 200 years.** But at its best Opera is a amazing mix of artificial extremes (like the Ring) and no other recent western art form has been able to make anything so satisfying.***
