Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Does one have to record for posterity?

For someone who is very talently and thoughtful, I see nothing wrong with a recording even if a better one may be made twenty years from now. Sometimes, after all, things go in the opposite direction. I much prefer the young Rubenstein playing Chopin to the recordings he made later on. I am quite glad for several of the Hilary Hahn recordings even though she may have even more insightful performances later.
The recordings are made to give pleasure, and for many young artists (with maturing ahead of them) I do get a lot of pleasure.
