Well, I suppose I should've been more specific & said 'Afrobeat.' It's not something I know a great deal about, but I guess 'worldbeat' is something that can mean so many things that it's become an essentially meaningless term. Afrobeat is a term I think Fela Kuti would be universally credited with coming up with, though I suppose there's always going to be someone who'll point to someone else...but I wouldn't know. I do think worldbeat is a term that's an outgrowth of Afrobeat, but is basically describing music with similar elements: a combination of indigenous roots & a mixture of traditional & contemporary instrumentation; in many cases, non-English lyrics, if there are lyrics (or chanting) at all; and artists that hail from non-Western countries. Exceptions likely abound, and like I said I'm no expert on this, so if someone wants to correct me, feel free. But in any case, I don't think that anyone who's interested in discovering 'world music' can go wrong if they invest in a Fela Kuti collection.
