Re: Wonderful Post!

I don't think that it neccesarily means that they DON'T listen to classical music. I think listening to classical takes a bit of concentration, but rock is self explanatory. I'm trying to word this correctly, I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense. You have to actively think about where the music is taking you, the messasge that it's trying to convey. Classical has no lyrics so the music has to tell the story. Rock tells you the story through the lyrics. At the end of the day, it might be easier to just pop in / on some rock, folk, jazz, or country and just absorb the sound. There is also the time factor. Sometimes I don't have the time to invest in listening to classical. Maybe it's just my view of classical. Having played in orchestras, bands, and small ensembles for a number of years might give me a different perspective of the music. I'm too buisy thinking. So at the end of the day, after listening to everyones audiophile standards it just might be EASIER to listen to something a little different and requires less thought.

I do find it interesting that you say that classical benefits most through high end audio. Perhapse my system isn't large enough to do classical any justice. I love Berlioz Requiem (as one example), but find that every recording I've ever come across is horribly recorded. In fact I've yet to find ANY classical recording that sounds even decent let alone remotely lifelike. I do wish I could agree with you on this, but I'm just not seeing it from my perspective.

This is just one man's view,
