I analyzed several cuts of each disc

This two-CD set uses Peak Extend but not Low-Level Extension. It is cut at a moderately low level. There are some peaks that reach -5 dB or so, but not a lot. Most of the album is down in the -10 to -20 dBFS range. HDCD decoding would probably be audible, but not dramatic, with this disc. (Remember that PE decoding doesn't occur until the decoded level reaches -9 dB, which would be -3 dB for the undecoded level.)
