The DVD-1600 is in fact outstanding on video (I own one) but it's not even in the same league as the DVD-5900 or even the DVD-2900 in terms of audio quality.Since I am so much more sensitive to audio quality vs video quality, I always lean toward audio performance when choosing a universal player. A small video artifact or other video flaw often goes unnoticed when I'm watching a DVD but any deficiency in audio while listening to music drives me nuts!
