The problems with natural materials include reproducibility of important properties as well as cost. Just as no two vintages of wine grapes give the same combination of aromas and tastes in wine, no two harvests of cotton or flax will give the same dielectric absorption properties when made into cloth. Whether this is significant relative to the absolute difference from, say, Teflon, is an open question.
