1- DO NOT assume high dollar = high quality (In YOUR set-up)2- Different cables react differently with different audio gear
3- Pay MORE attention to power cords..they're the MOST important item
in your cable set-up. They make the MOST difference in how your set-up will eventually sound.3- First thing to do is to narrow down your search to a few cable brands that are known to be generally a good match with your set-up.
You'll end up finding ONE that will hit the bull's eye.4- Once you find that 'magical' cable brand you will then decide how far you want to go up that brand's ladder.
5- Mixing and matching with different brands can yield good results BUT, as I have found, better synergy is achieved mostly from cabling with one brand.
6- Trust your OWN ears since it's your set-up, your room and your music that count in the end.
7- Always take reviews as a general guideline, YOUR system and ears are the final judges.
Case in point, I have found a $300 interconnect incredibly synergistic in my set-up than a $900 dollar one!!! The $900 one is SUPERB in its own, maybe even better in some general sonic aspects, but failed to engage me and failed to synergize like the $300 one..
Happy Listening !
