Gang,I bought a load of what is suppose to be select N2 TDA1543's (top 5%, similar to Burr Brown K series).
Anyway I think the guy ripped me off because I don't see anything that indicates this is an N2 designation.
I need some proof to get my money back as I paid premium for them.
Does anyone have earlier Philips data sheets before 1991 that indicates the selected parts?
Follow Ups:
Hello Gordon,TDA1543N just arrived from the Reichelt. It really does not have any indication it differs from the other TDA1543 I have. Actually the second line (in the first it only reads TDA1543, nothing more, nothing less) starts with N, but it is the case with the majority of the TDA1543 I have. Hope this helps.
Gang,I guess there is a lot of interest as my in basket was full this morning. So here is some more information.
Before 1990 the TDA1543 had 3 designations, stanard, N and N2. I am thinking N is proabably top 10% and N2 5%. From a company in the UK the parts do not have any particular marking... BUT... the box from philips indicates the N2 designation.
After 1990, which is proabably the updated 1991 data sheet that everyone has emailed me... the part was declassified as a stellar part (yea what did they know) and was only available in STD form.
Still data sheets from the 80's should indicate N and N2 designation.
FYI "T" designation is surface mount for those who had asked...
Hi Gordon,
I never heard of any N grade. This is a economy DAC as Philips decribes it. The guys at Philips have no idea how good it sounds. I tried several TDA1543's in my DAC to find out any variation in sound. Result: They all sounded the same. None have a N designation.

Gordon,Where did you find any info about the TDA1543 with N suffix/suffixes? Reichelt sells TDA1543N (not N2) for 0.6EUR and I expect one piece these days to arrive just to see what it is actually written in the chip. My problem is I did not find any info about this chip with N suffix, neither at Philips’s site nor anywhere else.
Pedja,Before I moved I had the older Phillips manuel and knew about the N2 suffix but had never seen any of these parts. Also Thorsten had confirmed this, but he does not have anything in print.
If I find it I will pass it on.
Thanks Gordon, will appreciate it.
