Certain types of DC servo circuits do not react well to having the input shorted.In this case, a low resistance would be better, and less likely to cause offset problems with such circuits.
I guy in New York that use to be in STEREOPHILE sold shorting plus with 50 ohm resistors for standard inputs and 75 ohm for digital.I used both.I've never shorthed anything straight to ground.Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
