I agree. I have actually removed some of the binding posts and female RCA jacks on some of my components and soldered my silver IC and speaker wires directly to the component wires (especially on components that I plan to keep long term). It really make more sense then spending $100 on a single RCA terminal (especially when you end up plugging it into a $2 female RCA jack). The only problem with this is that once you are inside your expensive components and start looking at all the cheap parts and wire, it is hard to stop tweaking and get back to listening to music.

But I think blowing $400 on a set of connectors is less-crazy than mangling $5000 worth of audio equipment to hard-wire the cable connections... I think the resultant loss of resale value would be *far* greater than the price of the connectors!!Although you may have a case if I choose to try these things in the "B" system...
And if you don't sell it within a year, it'll usually be out of guarantee anyway. No? Thus knowledgeable tweaking isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when tweakers often sell to other tweakers.

If I Go Through Another Long Job Drought, Like in 1999...Knock on wood, it won't happen again...
If I didn't sell my "beloved" equipment during that layoff, my mortgage would have foreclosed...
Had I mangled the equipment, I don't think I would have been able to sell it at half of what I sold it for...
