I am not one to move spkrs an inch and notice much difference --- so i have not moved them around a lot ---- maybe 10 moves to get what i thought best ........ ymmvif you don't have them off the floor, try that --- it will tighten the bass ------ the cheap way to try this before building or buying stands is to go to wally world and buy plastic storage crates(small milk crate style -- approx 16"x13x10 -- maybe $5 apiece) -- then particle board(or whatever) on top of the crates -- then a layer of indoor/outdoor carpet(again, whatever carpet) ---- this put my 03's about 11.5 inchs off the floor .....

Rigidity and high mass in the stands are key elements in obtaining optimum results. Plastic milk crates will fail miserably on both counts. The AN stands are quite rigid, and with the spikes adjusted for NO give in any direction and the speakers blutak'd to the stands top plate, you'll hear a huge improvement. Filling the stands' columns with sand brings further improvement, while filling them with a mix of fine lead shot and sand brings an additional improvement in tightness, speed, detail and imaging top to bottom that I found rather shocking the first time I tried it.
Keep your ears and your mind open.

Thanks Zeke,Thanks for the advise - I'll try the crates first before investing the 500 or so for the dedicated AN stands. BTW - i am located in San Antonio TX and am interested in exchanging ideas with other AN owners. Do you or anyone on the board know of any AN friendly audio clubs in the area?
My Texan geography is extremely poor, but just the same I'll point out that Audio Note will be at the Great Plains Audio Fest the first weekend in May. You can pick up some pointers from died in the wool experts there. (No, not me; I'll be at the VTV show in NJ the same weekend. Genius show scheduling, I must say.
