hi guys,
because i'm still a student and connot afford the compelete kit from audio note, i'm going to clone a set of kit one. i found the circuit at the Audio Note website, but there are no details about transformer and OPTs. i think there are many of you having this kit, and i hope that you can help me assemble my "clone kit one."
so, what are the specifications of kit one's transformer and OPTs??
thanks in advance

Audionote kit one schematic and transformer details are on public domain just google it. It is a relatively simple kit but I would agree that if you want to have AN sound you should stick with AN transformers. My friend has an kit 1 clone with all goodies (silver caps etc) and MQ FS030 output and he doesn't like it .We didn't compare it to original kit but it is something to think about. Try to buy used AN kit if you're on budget or transformers from folks who upgraded.
I don't find Kamingo remarks apropriet. This is a hobbist forum (even if it is sponsored by AN) after all and no marketing arena or shop (well I'm aware that reality is different but why not keep the fasade at least?

Why not build a Kit 4.
Very nice sounding and affordable.

there are plenty of circuits that are in the public domain. I would recommend starting there. Many of the transformer makers (e.g. Magnequest, Electraprint, Lundahl, Plitron, Hammond) have links to them on their websites.Just remember: you get what you pay for when it comes to transformers!
A couple of things: the performance of the kits is highly dependent on Audio Note's transformers, so substitutes are not a good idea. Matching specifications with some other transformer won't work out.Second, we all had to pay our hard earned money to get the kits and the info that comes with them. Plus, of course, Brian is running a business and therefore is not around to give away designs.
Sorry if I seem mean, but nothing in life is free.
Contact Brian, maybe he can work out a plan for you - it never hurts to ask. Start with a Kit 4 and go Kit 1 when you're done school.

i think i should put off this project and earning more money to buy a original kit.
