I really don't know about the red center. They have always been like this. They look more red on the pictures than in real life. The drivers are in fact from Seas of Norway :-) , but made specific for Audio Note. I actually spoke once to a guy modifying Seas woofers for Audio Note, and he had one he... of a jobb doing it.
The wadding is located on the side walls, and curved under the bassreflex port. Not much wadding though.

  I have a set of J/Spe's but they are black in the center (dust cap) -- I realy oughta pay attention more to driver materials but I don;t care too much just wondered why your version was red and mine is black -- both are SEAS. The Tweeter is Foster (Tonnegan).

  Funny, the original Snell II series used SEAS drivers before switching to Vifas... the SEAS drivers seem to have stronger magnets.
