You could connect it 'round the other way (2+2:2.25+2.25), too, and the performance wouldn't be much different. The rub is the current through the primaries. The LL1660S is rated for max 50mA. Moving to the higher current LL1671 reduces the possible swing at 30Hz to 2 x 150vrms due to the substantially lower primary inductance. For your application a small gap is called for; this is the PP version.

As soon as I get the PS together, I will get a pair of them. They're quite inexpensive compared to the rest of the Iron. Thanks for the consultation, perhaps a lighter current through the driver tubes will be acceptable. I suspect that 30 mA each will be quite enough.I don't suppose that a scaled up custom could be procured? Somthing which could run a pair of 300B's at 70-80 mA per tube? which would put out 220 vrms per phase at 20 cps at less than a Tesla?

Douglas

If you would like to buy 50 pieces, a scaled up version can be engineered for you personally.

is what my wallet would say! The idea of paying shipping for 50 each of the rest of the Iron would put me in the poor house. Something like 5 Tons....
