Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
Hello,
Anyone have this? I tried browsing this forum but can't get much info. I owned Monolithic, Wright, and the Hagerman Cornet phono and just looking for a better one. I hope owners will share their experience. Thank you.

I built mine from scratch and like it very much.
As a previous owner of many high $ phono stages (IO, Walker, Groove, etc) I feel that my expectations have been met and exceeded. Its a very smart design with phase/mute selection and termination impedance selection. Super quiet too. I concur with the other commentators.

I too have one that was put together by Kevin Carter. Mine is phono stage only with a built-in VTC (transformer volume control) and outboard power supply. I use this directly to my amp in my vinyl only system. I have been using it for about 6 months. I sent the power supply back to Kevin 2 months ago to put a tubed rectifier in the power supply. The result is better in my system. Overall, this phono stage is superbly built, the sound is very well balanced. Most tubed phono stages are too tubey and most ss phono stages are too sold state sounding. This unit has found the right balance between the two. I love it.

I had Kevin build my phono stage in Sept. of last year. I continue to enjoy it immensely. It is extremely dynamic and cohesive like SS, but with just a hint of the midrange magic of tubes. More neutral than most tube products, but in a good way. I can't imagine you can do better for anywhere near the price.
I like mine a whole bunch. It really brings out the beauty, subtlety, and power in my recordings. I had about twelve of my audio buddies over a few weeks ago and they liked it too.I built the kit. The instructions, very well thought out electronic and mechanical design, and easy access via email to Kevin made it a lot of fun.
Try this thread for a couple of opinions:http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/KandK/messages/822.html
There was also a thread here a few months ago from Gary Dahl and Lynn Olsen who have built it and liked it very much.
