Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
Hello; can I use 1660/18mA as SE preamp OT driven by 6SN7(5692)?5692 has about 7-8K rP, and the recommended drive impedance for 1660 in Alt-Q config is 3K. Will there be noticeable sonic degradation, like, weak bass? (which I think is likely) If 1660 Alt-Q is unsuitable, could you suggest an alternative?
Follow Ups:
The bass cut-off will be an otave higher than the specification and there will be some high frequency roll-off, too, but I think above 20kHz. But why not parallel the triodes in a 6SN7 and use two for stereo? I've done it and it sounds good. Use about 200v on the plate and it has a nice laid back sound.

Yes, that would work! Since you have built it to your liking, may I also ask your choice of kathode R value? With all the electrodes of 6SN7 are tied together at the pin, about 470 Ohms - yielding 13.5mA plate current - would be all right...?

You are right on target. I used a 475 ohm cathode resistor with a 220uF 16v bypass capacitor.
