I have tried paralleling different brands of tubes within the same type (845) both quite different in construction.
The result, although good was not exactly as expected having heard each brand individually. One was thin and bright, the other much too tame at the top but had heaps of body and bass. The combo was somewhere in between but still skewed towards the bright end.
I lived with the combo for a while but ultimately found a type I liked more than either or both together and a parallel pair of these was much more pleasing overall.
