Ive used several fostex dats for a long time with great results. I think the imporvement over the DA20 comes from XLR connections, and an error counter (albeit a crappy one). The DA20 is a more solid machine than the DA30 which has lots of problems. Teh DA20 might edge out the fostex in DAC quality. I would buy a DIO for either one.
