Open Baffle shape and driver position advise needed.


Hi,
I'm changing the mids enclosures to open baffles:) What you see is my current system with dipolar subs, Fostex 206 mids and Fostex ribbons. This is all eq'd and crossovered at 230 Hz digitally.
So the question is:
Keeping everything else equal I want to build a test baffle;
Flat baffle or with wings?
Best material?
As i read, the driver should be mounted "off" from the center but the ORION design and Basszilla have the driver centered? Why?
I will be able to use Eq with a digital crossover, but I need max power handling down to 250Hz.
Rectangular or trapezoidal shape of baffle? Why?

By the way, the FE 206 sounds like crap in those little sealed boxes, even eq'd to a flat response and that why i've decided to go OB all the way.
