Mtn. Lion seems to run things a little faster and smoother than with Lion.

It does sound a little different than Lion on my Dual Boot MacBook Pro.

Mtn. Lion sounds slightly less dark than Lion and is more open sounding. Damien Plisson of Audirvana Plus also noticed sonic improvments with Mtn. Lion and feels it might be due to kernal optimizations in the OS.

Those of you running OSX Snow Leopard might feel that Mtn. Lion is brighter, but I don't think this is the case. Snow Leopard is darker sounding and less open than Lion or Mtn. Lion. But this is just my opinion, so use what sounds best to you.

I am sure this is the way to go for some:-

UPGRADE your OS every 2 months!

I copied the installESD.dmg file on a 8GB USB Flash drive before I updated my iMac.

I partitioned the drive on my music computer, the 2011 MacBook Pro. Boot the Flash Drive by holding down the Options Key.

Neither Lion or Mtn. Lion support native integer. Pure Music cannot be run in integer with these OS.

Fresh install vs. Fresh install, posted on July 27, 2012 at 10:52:41
Although not practical its best to compare two fresh installs.

Have fun...

Actually, Lion and Mtn. Lion were both fresh installs. Unless the updates to Lion ruin this for you.

Already fresh installs....great.

Nice way to fine tune your system.

Good grief now different iterations of the same operating system sound different!

BUT What if you set your MacBook Pro on special wooden blocks harvested by vestal virgins wearing Teflon gloves and coonect a bajillion dollar platinum USB cable (treated with 100% organic pure unfiltered proprietary oil) to your DAC also on the same wooden blocks, does Mountain Lion still sound even better than Snow Leopard?

I have noticed slightly more low level information coming through. Mountain Lion with Pure Music also appears to use a smaller memory footprint and the CPU usage appears to be lower.

It sounds great.

Acquiring Vestal Virgins would be a neat trick. I once attended a Blessing of Cassette Decks years ago in California. Have memories of Shinto priests blessing a stash of hand-carved Japanese cartridges...

Also remember a beautiful woman serving me with beer with a wink and a smile... The beer still tasted like piss but the memories linger...

And a whopping $20 for the whole enchilada, not multiple ridiculous high price points for various crippled editions.
