Davey	Sure it will work. In fact, you might be surprised how tolerable it is. But, relatively soon, you'd find yourself saying uuuuggggh and setting the speakers aside. In most cases, the tweeters can be successfully repaired. So, it's probably not a situation you'd find yourself in. Dave.

Davey	Wonderful technical explanation there. The driver power rating is the driver power rating. You're not going to change it if you remove the low-pass filter. It just won't sound great. Dave.

Uh, no.

The OP has premised a speaker with a bad/disconnected tweeter. At that point you don't have a crossover any longer....series or parallel.
You just have a woofer with (or without) a low-pass filter.

If it's a series crossover and you jumpered across the inductor you would need to disconnect the capacitor. Otherwise you'd have a short circuit at high frequencies. If it's a parallel crossover you could just jumper the inductor
But nevertheless, the system would work with the woofer operating full range. It just wouldn't sound that great.

None of this affects (fucks with) the power rating of the woofer. That is an inherent characteristic of the transducer itself.

Clearly you do need an explanation.
Yes, his post is deficient of details....but you seem to have determined that jumpering the inductor will "fuck with the power rating." :)

From his query, I assumed his intention was to disconnect the "messed up tweeter section" and operate just the woofer. That seems a perfectly reasonable assumption, to me.
But, your mind-reading skills must be superior to mine. :)

Let's just ASSume the tweeter grid is totally "f'd up" Just one big coil and 50mf cap there. I'm sure it's better to mount a tweeter on top, but just curious about running big grid full range....thanks Davey, good advice.

Davey	You're welcome. If you do jumper the inductor, just pull up one leg of the 50uF capacitor so you don't short-circuit your amplifier at high frequencies. There is no issue in doing this, and you won't be fucking with the power rating of anything. :) Dave.

Everything is working, just doing check-ups now that the grill is off, replacing with black, looks SO much better!. Did replace cap for sure.

Did clear coat wires to prevent corrosion, which happens with these things.
