I recently own a beautiful Ayre QB-9 DAC which had the 192 Hz upgrade.
I had to install the Thesycon driver. Apparantly my PC Windows 7 netbook Asus didn't like that driver. It went well the first day. After rebooting (starting up) the PC., it went wrong. I got a blue-screen and the Ayre DAC displaying 8.L.8 and the stand-by light. Nothing makes it disappear. I had to send it to the dealer... waiting. I hope somebody will deliver me a solution so I could handle the situation myself. I guess there must be a way to reset the dac myself ?
Can somebody give an advise ?

I use the QB9 with a ASUS netbook all the time. It has the Win 7 home premium on it and I never had a problem.

I also used their new QA9 as well and it worked fine.

I have one of these on my bench all the time as they are small and easy to use and I have respect for ASUS.

The QB9 does not have a 8.L.8. display that I know of. There are only the six sample rates, hardware error and off.

Look carefully into this before doing anything. Be very careful about MS update KB2529073 before applying it as it disables usb ports on boot on my Gigabyte MBs. Differents versions of W7 actually have different versions of various usb related drivers.

I have warned about 'driverless' and 3rd party driver USB audio devices to the wrath of inmates like Charles Hansen and Gordon. Give me a reliable hires usb audio driver for windows anytime. The M2Tech related and Musiland drivers are 100% rock solid with no issues like yours.

Something bad must have happened to the QB9 as nowhere on the entire internet anybody seems to have experienced the same problem. I returned the QB9 to the Dutch dealer. Still no message after 2 weeks. Looks to me like trouble ... Hope it will be fixed soon, but most of all, that it won't happen again afterwards.
