While snooping around your website(FAQ?, I noticed a reference to an upcoming phono stage kit. Is such a creature in the offing? If so, would it be similar to the "Groove Thang" in issue 2? Any other details?
Thanks, Mo

We're in the rumination stage on the phono preamp. Ahead of it are a few other projects, but we hope to see it by the end of the year. I haven't decided what level of sophistication to take it to, so it may or may not be as fancy as the Groove Thang ( and may end up fancier, who knows?). The Groove Thang is highly recommended if you have some scratch building experience and understand noise control schemes. It smoked a few well regarded preamps at a VALVE meeting earlier this year, even though it's still just a scab job partly held together with clip leads.
For sure the production phono pre will use readily available tubes, constant current sources, and passive RIAA EQ like the Thang. I'm a dyed in the wool low output MC guy, so we will shoot for pretty high gain as well.
