In Lind Washington they have held an annual Combine Derby, its been going on for 25 years now. Took my son yesterday, this was our first time ever going. Was a hoot! Amazing to watch these guys duke it out on their combines. My favorite was The Scrappy Pig, but he didn't win. Here are a few pics of the machines, wish I could have gotten closer shots. But these came off my phone, and aren't too bad considering that.
At intermission there were grain truck and pick up races. Was super cool watching them do an Australian line up of these big grain cars. Evenly spaced out on the track, if one gets passed its out of the race. The pick up trucks were wild races. Lots of bumping and rubbing of rigs. Rolled a couple of grain trucks, and more than a couple of pick ups. Good thing is no one was hurt, but it made for exciting racing.
So thats how we roll on the farm. Combine demo derbies and grain truck races. Bet you wish you were here for that.

So are figure 8 races.
Used to go all the time when I was young. Drink a few beers, cheer for
one car of another, cheer for crashes, boo the guys with no balls - great
harmless fun.
I gotta see combines in a figure 8 race ...
I remember in the late 70s and 80,they outlawed using the 50s and 60s Chrysler Imperials because of the strong and thick frame.
When problems become increasingly difficult,we can always rely on our collective knowledge and seek relief.
I'm glad you folks in E. WA enjoy this unique and highly entertaining sport but
could you fill us in as to how this relates to anything audio?

The sound from the crashes in demolition derbies are very difficult to replicate on an audio system.

They played country music there. Actually had a tribute to a local citizen of Lind who was KIA. Fittingly the song was American Solider, and he did a great rendition of it. Of course it was a recording, and a pretty heart touching one at that.
