I'm curious about this Denon direct drive manual turntable. It looks nice and is priced about the same as the popular Technics SL1200 series. Any thoughts on this Denon DP-500M. Link to more info below.

Stanton DJ turntable in a nice Denon box, made in China and with inferior wow and flutter (compared to SL 1200)--and-- with a very cheap tonearm that is noticeably less in quality than Technics SL 1200/1210. This is what I have been advised and read.
I am buying the Technics SL 1210M5G next week after completing my research and arriving at a very comfortable decision. Anxious for sure.

Wow, you either have to much money or time on your hands, wish I was in your shoes.
Why not go down the idler path for another perspective on things, just a thought.

If I had too much money on my hands I'd be buying a turntable for a few grand. I presently own one that cost me a whopping $525. I don't understand your comment.

He means you just bought a new TT why are you inquiring about buying another one. Hense, you must have a lot of money ........
Well, I suppose I didn't get it because I wasn't actually shopping for another TT, just curious about that Denon I spotted since it's in the same price range as what I already have.
No harm no foul.... just misunderstood.

the Denon is kind of more of the same. Why not try a Rega table, they have prat and should be a stop on everyones trip to vinyl nirvana.
Bill.
I have not owned one but I have seen one in the flesh. They are made to look nice. Thats about I can cay for it. The platter for instance looks like it would be substantial, but it isnt, its pretty light weight.
the opinions stated below are based on actual experience or supposition. seems like denon has been in this market for even longer than technics and has had some VERY nice products.

I never post opinions of a component I haven't owned or, at least, heard.

Same cart, even (DL-103). The Technics was better, top to bottom.

It is not built as well as the 1200 and does not sound as good. It does look nice.
