Hey all--
I'm designing for a play and at one point, one guy is talking to his dad on the phone. His dad falls off of a ladder while on the phone with him. I want to have a cue that is the "THUMP" of the ladder falling, and I want it to sound as if it's coming from the phone. I understand most of accomplishing this is speaker placement and level, but I was also wondering if anyone out there had any tips on how to make a sound sample sound as if it's coming out of a phone.
Thanks!
Follow Ups:
Use 2 landlines.
Play sample over headphones into handset mic.
Record with close mic on other landline handset speaker.
Cut off low freqs rumble after recording.
It will sound authentic.
Need more help?
Cut all bass below 300Hz and all treble above 3000Hz as that is the frequency range of public switched telephones.
You could then try to boost what's left to get a wee bit of transistor distortion but that may not be necessary.
