Looking for suggestions for a quality analog mixer. The main purpose will be to rip vinyl to hi-rez. I have a decent ADC, but need a preamp to get optimum levels.
Obviously the preamp is another object in the signal chain (turntable -> phono preamp -> mixer -> ADC), so I'd like to avoid any degradation by getting a good quality mixer (though at a reasonable price -- these aren't archival vinyl transfers :)
The other purpose is to mix down to 2-track some 4-track 1/4" RTR tapes.
4 tracks is plenty for my purposes.
TIA

and don't blow it off just because it has the Behringer name on it. I've used it for mixdown work, consolidating drum set in live recordings, and general mixing work. Its got more control than you're asking for but the price is quite reasonable. One other thing I liked about it is all the patching capabilities as well as a very clean output.
I see these pop up on eBay and Craigslist, depending on where you are.
Here's a link (but not necessarily a recommendation for the retailer - its the first link I found)....
Cheers,
David
While the Behringer 1202 is a decent mixer, it is almost verbatim, a complete copy of the much more reliable Mackie 1202. Surprising there hasn't been a lawsuit on that Behringer product as well...
yamaha, behringer.aleisis, samson and peavey all make inexpensive mixers.
you can get a new one for well under $100
not "audiophile quality" but they will suit your purpose fine.
