From my time in Maui this past week..."I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy….I was able to get a sense of his soul." -- George W. Bush on Vladimir Putin
Follow Ups:
.
As the guy who jumped off the 20-story building shouted as he passed the 10th Floor "So far..so good!"
Where did you do the B&W conversion?
RAW conversion in Bibble.

Including your own contribution.

Some women are born beautiful, some just have a good photographer.
Bibble was just the RAW conversion to a 16 bit TIFF.
The B&W conversion was in photoshop using the linked method.
Here's the color version...

i'm loving my new D700 and my Macbook pro notebook.
I get jealous everytime you mention that camera. I really, really want one... for this kind of photography more than anything else (as in the low light/high dynamic range performance of the camera).
The Macbook Pro is a fantastic computer. I have a desktop but I'm thinking of selling it for the MBP... and I'd keep the monitor I have.

that was at 3200....next is at 6400. I blew it up to 400% on my monitor with no degradation i could see.
My high school photography instructor asked my how I could make my pretty subject look so bad. The project involved supplemental lighting.
feeling the ticking of the biological clock?
Okay, S, why don't you just come out and ask anyone here if they know of a nice, young woman?
Tick, tock......
that is a nice young woman I know... we've gone back and forth for years and now she's a single mother (married the father but he turned out to be a right bastard) and she MAY wind up moving here - here meaning with me - with the boy.
But you're right... I do want a family... even a ready made one.
Anyway... the point of posting it is that I think it portrays something beautiful.

It does.
Kids are a HECK of a lot of work. More than I ever imagined, on my most imaginative day. There really is NO preparation for it, for the patience, time, and energy it takes.
I know you're not asking for advice.... but be sure. Very, very sure.
Raising someone else's child has special challenges for the "new" parent.
That being said, parenting is by far the most fun, rewarding, and amazing experience you can have. With the right woman, it's heavenly.
