I think I am liking the idea more and more. The idea bounces in my mind but with direct coupled stages. Maybe more CCS and heatsinking (or a substantial tube) would be required under the EL34s as we need to raise the voltage under the cathodes and the PSU needs to be revisted for the purpose... but this is an amp I'd like to play with.
Are those UL chokes going to be wound somehow/sometime Mike?

please put me on the list.
To infinity and beyond!!!
Could I adapt a 10w, 8K, open-framed PP, output transformer (with the secondaries not connected)? Would I need to create a gap?
How critical would the primary winding and core size be to over-all freq. response?

Just to make it more clear... I drafted the idea and here is what I was thinking at

Mike,
a UL interstage tranny as per Kevins schematic (with two separate indipendent windings at the secondary) would wonderfully fit into my new project: a hybrid amp with a differential tube stage and mosfets at the output arranged a la circlotron by electrovoice. I met the builder of such an amp (there is only one in the world) and I had the chance to listen to it ... I do need to build it, it was astonishing (for bass freqs).
Keep us posted.
Ciao

I'll get back to you guys--- I have a revised schematic I want to put up--- with a slightly different tact on doing the UL tapped plate choke. give me a day or two to get caught up on some orders and some other pressing domestic matters---but--- I too would like to see some of these ideas field tested and field optimized--- and I think I will have some good experimental iron for you brave pioneers.
So--- keep your eyes open--- I'll try to get the revised schematic up over the next day or two.

Put me down for a pair of those UL chokes.
