Thank you Victor for making these Elekits available in No. America. It's late, and I need to catch up on my sleep, but before I do, I thought I'd post photos of the TU-870R assembly. -Jeff
The package as received on Tuesday the 21st. The main carton isn't much larger than a big Kleenex box. I also ordered the optional OP-870 upgrade kit which includes an additional power supply capacitor and protective grille.
8PM on the 21st: Unpacking the contents on my kitchen floor.
Several hours later: Circuit boards are complete. I was having fun, but too tired to continue with the chassis wiring.
I completed the chassis wiring the following evening. 2nd large can capacitor is part of the OP-870 upgrade kit.
Finished!

HI Jeff
I am glad you are sucessfully to finsih the assembly. Yes, it is fun to build this kit. How would you rate the new TU-870R in sound quality?
Thanks
Victor
Hi Victor,
I just spent a couple of evenings assembling it, so of COURSE it's going to sound great. ;-)
It strikes me as the sort of product that could only come from Japan: Relatively inexpensive, yet perfectionist in it's own quiet way. No precious metals or designer parts to be seen, and the front panel is totally blank. Yet the fit and finish are great: All screw holes line up perfectly, and all of the areas where a person's fingers might touch the front panel have been ground smooth. I even like the spring clips used for speaker connections, a jumbo-sized thing that has no problems holding onto tinned 14 gauge wire. When I first saw it, I thought I'd be immediately replacing it with binding posts, but now I'm not so sure.
Brighter-sounding than my usual 300b monoblocks, with no really low bass, but it sounds punchy and entertaining. It gets louder than I would have expected given it's power rating, becoming a bit rougher around the edges and "shouty" when pushed harder.
Hi Jeff
Thank you for your comments. Indeed, Elekit is a very good products. it's worth evey penny.
Thanks
Victor
