In what way does it play DVD-Audio discs? Does it handle true ppcm (Meridian Lossless) multichannel surround?? Really? Or are you saying it plays 24/96 pcm nicely (not really DVD-Audio)? This is not a put-down, it's a HUGE piece of skepticism since the new formats have had no interest in handling the current SACD and DVD-A codecs. It's great news if it's truly a full-function (bass mgmt, etc.) DVD-A player, but BOY could they get a hint and at least list DVD-A as one of it's formats!! Not sure it will replace my vaunted tube-modded Modwright 3910, but it will help steer me toward BR at least. Thanks,
Ted

DVD-A is really inexpensive to implement. Panny has $80 machines that do it. Since Panny is a DVD-A supporter (and not SACD at all), they naturally threw it in for good measure....nice thing they did. Yes, 192K, MLP and six channels with good sound. All of Pannies DVD players except the very bottom line one play DVD-A.....the next cheapest only 2 channel but the rest 6 channel.
It's not well-publicized, but yes, now that I'm searching on it I see where a few dealers and comments have listed DVD-A capable. Thanks for enlightening me. I've had many DVD-Audio players as time as gone on (five,I think, beginning with the old Technics A10), and my current Modwright tube modded 3910 is still my fave, but to have this on a BR player is nice to have.
So, has anyone compared the sound to other DVD-A players/universals? Thx
Ted
