Hi Brian,
There's a thread over at TubeDIY on using the Silk 600LCR in a project. In the thread, there's a post recounting some correspondence with Kittipol at SACThailand, in which Kittipol seems to be saying that the 600ohm LCR module only works as intended when used with a 600ohm input impedence -- he appears to suggest that loading the module with 600ohms and using whatever source will drive 600ohms is not an option.
That's counter to just about everything I've read about LCR modules -- either a 600ohm source or a 600ohm load would suffice. I had thought that terminating with 600ohm would be preferred from a technical standpoint, even, as tube aging would no longer be a concern.
Could you provide a bit of clarity? I could simply be misreading his comments, but I'd like the opinion of someone who knows what's what.
Regards,
John

Maybe it depends on what is in the can? I don't know exactly what Silk has in the module but what he says about adding a 600ohm in parallel with the LCR output will drop the output impedance and totally mess up the RIAA is true in our experience.

Take control! DIY.
Thanks Brian.
If I can make a recommendation, you might want to add a note to the product page concerning this. I know that DC coupling to the LCR is all the rage nowadays, but there are some circuits floating around, like Shishido's from Sound Practices #12, that use the terminating 600R. DIYers would need to know that the Silk modules won't work in those circuits.
Regards,
John
